Péter Magyar to ORF: „I will be the one to stand up to Viktor Orbán and corruption”
Péter Magyar, leader of the TISZA Party, is gaining increasing international attention, and in his recent interview with Austrian public broadcaster ORF, he clearly outlined his political goals. The ORF host introduced Péter Magyar as the first real challenger to Viktor Orbán, referring to the latest public opinion polls that show the TISZA Party is neck-and-neck with Fidesz.
In the interview, Péter Magyar did not hold back in his criticism of the Orbán government. He emphasized that Orbán’s regime has become a symbol of corruption, nepotism, and economic decline. The deteriorating economic situation, the doubling of the national debt, and the crumbling healthcare, education, and social systems are all attributed to the failures of the Orbán government. „In the past twenty years, Hungary has become the poorest and most corrupt member of the European Union,” Magyar stressed, making it clear that his goal is to restore the foundations of democracy and bring back EU funds to Hungary.
The interview also addressed the government propaganda machine led by Antal Rogán, against which Péter Magyar has been a strong opponent in recent years. „We brought hundreds of thousands to the streets against the propaganda,” he recalled, pointing out that Rogán’s machine not only manipulates public opinion but also exerts influence over the functioning of the prosecutor’s office.
Despite an unprecedented smear campaign launched by the government-controlled media against him, Péter Magyar has demonstrated strength and credibility. People are standing by him in large numbers, as evidenced by the June local and European Parliamentary elections, where the TISZA Party garnered 30% of the vote, even with Orbán’s illiberal regime fundamentally altering the electoral law to its own advantage.
When asked about the TISZA Party’s EU policy and its stance on Russian aggression, Péter Magyar made it clear that he is the one who can hold Viktor Orbán accountable for his irresponsible foreign policy and the neglect of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia.
Péter Magyar’s political sharpness, determination, and firm opposition to the Orbán regime make it clear: he is the leader who can truly change Hungary’s future. His fight against corruption and commitment to democratic values are drawing more and more voters to his side. „People are tired of Orbán’s manipulations and the government’s propaganda lies. The time for change has come, and I am ready to make it happen,” Magyar concluded the interview, positioning himself as a genuine, credible challenger to the oppressive regime in the next elections.
